Founded in 1971 to help protect the life and property of the citizens of Boiling Spring Lakes and the surrounding area.

To date, the department operates as an all hazards response providing fire protection and education, fire suppression and EMS first response to an area covering nearly 90 sq. miles and runs an average of 800-1,000 calls for service a year. We currently operate a fleet of about 18 pieces of apparatus, including three type 1 structural engines carrying a minimum of 750 gallons of water each, 1- Tanker/tender carrying 1,000 gallons of water, 2- type 3 engines/brush rigs designed and equipped to operate off road at wildland type incidents, a 75’ aerial ladder that also doubles as a “quint” type apparatus and is capable of primary fire attack as well with 500 gallons of water on board, our Polaris side by side ATV for off road search and rescue/wildfire/ all purpose vehicle, a flat bottom rescue boat for water responses, and several quick response vehicles to include our Chiefs vehicle- 480, a 2021 F-250 with 4×4 capability and set up as a command vehicle for operating as an incident command post location and initial response for most incidents, and QRV 481- a 2019 Ford Expedition equipped with basic medical and first response equipment and personnel carrying capabilities. All units are divided amongst our 3 stations, and the old headquarters building is undergoing a rehab at this time to be used as a community building for events and rentals, as well as a training facility for our approximately 60 volunteers currently on the roster. We do supplement our volunteer staff with part time paid staff as well, and currently have 3 part time personnel to assist as well. Headquarters station, located on George II highway, is currently staffed 24/7 with a minimum of 2 personnel on shift at all times.
